Description
The IDEA has a special provision for “parent participation in placement decisions.” Under this provision, state educational agencies and local school boards must ensure that the parents of a child with a disability are members of any group that makes decisions regarding the placement and Least Restrictive Environment of that child.
IDEA law establishes a role for the parent as an equal participant. The Parent Input Statement documents the goals of the parent for their child within the IEP.
The Parent Input Statement Training Includes:
- What should be included in your Parent Input Statement
- A worksheet to help you walk through your Parent Input Statement
- A reference page to help with the worksheet
- An example of a great Parent Input Statement
